Haley Mellin is an artist and land conservationist born in Northern California and based in New York. Haley organized the nonprofit “Art into Acres” to support large-scale land protection. On behalf of the art community, the nonprofit has supported 33 million acres of new protected landscapes ranging from indigenous conserved areas to national parks. To engage climate sustainability in art communities, Haley cofounded Conserve.org, the MOCA Environmental Council, Art and Climate Action, Artists Commit, GCC Los Angeles, and GCC New York. She initiated the first carbon emissions calculations and emissions reduction education for exhibitions at museums in the United States and Germany, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, MoMA PS1, ICA Miami, documenta, and Kunstmuseum Bonn, and she was the recipient of grants from the Teiger Foundation in 2022 and 2023 to do this work. Her undergraduate studies were completed at U.C. Berkeley, followed by a Ph.D. in visual culture and education at NYU Steinhardt.

In her two-dimensional art, Haley focuses on observational painting on locations that she has been working with colleagues to conserve. Her recent exhibitions include The Journal Gallery, New York (2022); Micki Meng and Parker Gallery, New York (2023); Giovanni’s Room, Los Angeles (2023); and Hauser & Wirth, New York (2024). Museum exhibitions include MoMA Ps1, New York; Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens, Belgium and Museo Pino Pascali, Italy. She has given talks at the Studio Museum in Harlem, MoMA, Guggenheim New York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Harvard Kennedy School for Public Policy and U.C. Berkeley. She was the joint Artist Fellow at the Neue Nationalgalerie and American Academy in Berlin as the 2023 Max Beckmann Distinguished Visitor. She is currently a resident artist in Silver Studios at the World Trade Center. Haley attended the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program and is mentored by South African/Italian artists and educators rosenclaire.

Haley Mellin ist Künstlerin und Umweltschutzaktivistin; sie wurde in Nordkalifornien geboren und lebt und arbeitet in New York.
