Robert Lazzarini
Robert Lazzarini (b. Denville, New Jersey, USA, 1965) lives and works in New York, USA. Lazzarini, who has shown his work internationally for the past twenty years, has charted a practice that is primarily focused on the production of complex sculptural works and installations. Currently, the artist works at the intersection of sculpture and painting, exploring systems and mechanisms that create a foil to the static nature of both media, often with layered historical references to American subcultures and prevailing preoccupations with violence, glamour, and pop-culture phenomena. Lazzarini works with the idea and philosophy of vagueness, an aesthetic of the mutable and equivocal. He has exhibited his work at several institutions and was part of the 2002 Whitney Biennial.
